In this book The Perks of Being a Wallflower I read what I thought was a really good book. It was an Amazing coming of age story and it was really really relatable, in my opinion. I think that many if not all people will be able to relate and connect with this book, just because I feel like any single character in this book anyone can relate to it may not be Charlie, it may not be Patrick, it may not be Sam… but I guarantee that there is a person in this book that you could relate to. Maybe you don’t relate to a character but an event that happens such as, peer pressure, loneliness, falling in love, being in a new environment, making new friends, keeping a secret, stress, anxiety, it’s all stuff that happens to a lot of the people in this world. As I mentioned anything in this book is relatable to anybody, think about it you have probably fallen in love or found yourself in an unfamiliar location or been lonely or had to make all new friends or kept a secret or had bad stress and anxiety. Do you see what I mean by relatable to most anyone?
This book helped me realise something that no matter where you come from no matter what has happened to you, the things you experience can be the same but it’s what you do with those things or experiences. Just look at Charlie he switched from middle school to high school and that is something that everybody does but what he chose to do was sit back and make only a few friends. That is way different than what some do some do sports some get involved with the school some get good grades some don’t care. It’s all about how you handle it and how you push through it, or once again look at Charlie. Charlie never stood out so what he did was made himself some friends and he stood out and ended up drawing a lot of attention to himself. Once more Charlie he fell in love but he never said anything to the girl and he regretted it eventually, he loved Sam but never wanted to say anything again he didn’t stand out, but eventually he did and Sam kind of liked him too. Both of those examples also go to show that things don’t have to always be the same, his friends pressured him into putting himself out there and so he did. He got high he performed on a stage he became a writer he got a girlfriend, he put himself out there and did the unexpected.
In all out of ten stars I would give it an eleven. I probably sound like a broken record but, it was so relatable and such an amazing read i would definitely recommend it to anyone.
